News, Updates, Appendicitis, Etc.

After many weeks of holiday whatnots and the usual winter hibernating, some of the original SS crew decided to pop in for a Valentine’s Day visit! It was good to have Tara and Heidi around after their respective sabbaticals First order of business: Topher had an appendicitis. Long story short, he woke Brent and I [...]

Topher wanted to call this blog post “Attack”, but I rejected him. Ha! :P

We had a full house today at Studio Sunday! Tara, Heather (Chapa), Josh, Pietro, Topher, Brent and Jackie were all rockin’ the house with preliminary drawings, Christmas projects and Etsy-majigs. There’s nothing you can’t get done with Jurassic Park and Big Trouble in Little China playing in the background!

Tara updates!

Tara’s been held hostage by the MAN lately (day job, ewwwww) and so hasn’t been able to make it to the last few Studio Sundays Nevertheless, she steams forward with new work and exciting news! First up is her recent Milwaukee Gallery Day/ Night at the Caggio gallery: New work alongside The She-Bear (below) for [...]

The making of “The legend of EN”

Warning: There is the occasional bit of mature language. If you are easily offended, you have our sincere apologies. This is just the video covering day one. We have a few more to cut and upload, so keep watching.

Three Weeks!

Nervous as hell, but the to-do list keeps shrinking. Item by item, day by day. For your viewing pleasure: The Floating Island, as drawn by Tara! Don’t ask questions about the lake/waterfall in the middle; just let the science-defying oddity embrace you.

Installation Progress

Our Fairy Tale installation is progressing through the thumbnail stages very nicely. Topher came over to the studio today to chill and make more exhibit and character thumbnails, Tara created the first draft of our statement of intent (it’s pretty good, so it may well be the final draft), Brent banged out a prototype and [...]

Sew What?

Busy busy busy day of sewing! And then we took a break to go see the premier of Handmade Nation at the Oriental! And then we came back to the studio and sewed for four more hours! SEWINGGGGGG. (time for bed~)

NEWS!

Tara’s RagTags are on fire! As in, they’re selling fast. REAL fast. Take a trip to our Etsy store and be sure to secure a new best friend before they’re all sold out! (Editors note: Ragtags are not on actual fire. Its a metaphor for good sales. ) The Calendar is NIGH upon you! We [...]

Ideas A-bloomin’

Hooray for group projects! We are planning a collaboration/installation thing together, and we made a ton of progress today– Post-it Notes are the bee’s knees when it comes to generating ideas! The theme of our collaboration installation thing? Storytelling and fairy tales. So far we’ve come up with a basic story that roughly follows the [...]

calendar project: january thumbnails

Hurray for the upcoming calendar and hurray for baby reindeer!!  These are but a few thoughts for my (Tara’s) chosen month of January – the wintry month of Mongolia’s nomadic reindeer herders of course!   Well, many may not know who they are but I think they’re fascinating groups of people, so they have become the inspiration for my illustration.  To [...]
